Getting Around

There are numerous options for travelling around Menorca. Firstly there is an excellent bus service that offers modern and air conditioned public buses. There are also numerous car hire companies across the island, many of which situated in resorts and also offer mopeds. A reasonable new introduction to Menorca and a favourite with the kids are miniature train services that are located in the majority of resorts and offer local transport within the resort and sometimes further a field.
 

Menorca Buses

The central bus station in Menorca is located in Mahon just of Calle de Vassallo near the Placa de Explanada. The main bus operator is TMSA (Transportes Menorca S.A.) runs bus services from Mahon to Ciutadella, Binibeca, Cala Galdana, Cala'n Porter, Canutells, Es Castell, Es Migjorn Gran, Salgar, Santo Tomas, Sant Lluis, Sant Climent, Son Bou, Punta Prima. There are two further bus operators Torres Alles Autocares that operates a circular route around Mahon from the bus station and the third bus operator based in Fornells runs services in the north east, between Fornells, Mahon, Es Mercadal, Arenal d’en Castell, Son Parc, Cala Tirant and Es Grau. There is also a regular bus services that runs from the Menorca Airport to Mahon, running every 30 minutes, for more information visit Torres Alles Autocares.
 

Miniature Trains

The mini land trains are an excellent way to get around the resort, they stop of at numerous popular stops in the resort and can be heard when approaching by its train whistle, however there are timetables and route maps at the stops. The following resorts currently have these mini land trains during holiday season:

Car Hire

If budget allows, hiring a car is an excellent way to get around Menorca, giving you the freedom to explore Menorca Beaches, prehistoric monuments and rural towns. There are many established car hire companies in Menorca and many can meet you at the airport on arrival.
 

Different hire companies will specify different age restrictions but as a rough guide you need to be over 25 years of age. Seat belts need to be worn when sitting in the front and back. On the spot fines are imposed and children up to the age of 12 must sit in the rear of the vehicle

Mopeds & Scooters

Another great way to see the island is by moped/scooter, you’ll find it an excellent way to visit some of the more secluded beaches. To hire a moped or scooter you’ll need a full driving licence from any EU country and you’ll need to keep this with you during the hire period. The minimum age to hire a bike is 17.
 

Cycling

Menorca is well suited to cycling especially mountain bikes as there are many rural dirt tracks on the island leading to some beautiful beaches.
