Menorca is an island of spectacular natural beauty with diverse natural Mediterranean habitats. The Menorcan’s truly recognise the importance of conservation working hard to maintain where ever possible to conserve and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the island. In 1993 the country was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a recognition richly deserved.

The island is home to over 200 species of birds including buzzards, red kites, Booted Eagle, Egyptian vultures and 1000 species of plants , of which 60 are native to the island.
