Menorca’s landscape offers a wide network of cycling roads through beautiful rolling countryside with very few hills and quiet country lanes that twist and bend through picturesque villages. For those mountain bike riders the spectacular rugged coastline, offers both easy and challenging off-road mountain bike routes. There are cycling routes in Menorca that suite all ages and abilities.

The main road in Menorca passes through the centre of the island and is called the Me-1 and connects the capital Mahon on the east coast to Ciutudella on the west coast. The road is approximately 27 miles (45 km) in length and passes by the towns of Alaior, Ferreries and Mercadel with numerous cycling routes branching off to popular resorts and towns. A new and alternative cycling route is also suitable for road bikes but bypassing the main ME-1 route, an option for those after less traffic and wanting to explore Menorca’s mainland towns and prehistoric settlements. The route includes a stretch along the Cami den Kane or Kane Road, one of the oldest roads on the islands named after Richard Kane the first British governor in 1733.

The Cami de Cavalls is an ancient path around the coast of Menorca and is ideal for mountain biking with routes suitable for all levels of experiencea and ages. The route encircles the island and is used by horse riders, cyclists and walkers and is a total 116 miles long (186 kilometers). The route is well signposted and is split into 20 sections and passes by secluded beaches, stone walled meadows and traditional fishing villages. The easiest sections are those nearby the tourist resorts of Punta Prima, Binibeca and Son Bou.

Menorca’s towns and especially the capital Mahon and Cuitadella also have well maintained and clearly labelled cycling paths, which provides an excellent alternative way to explore these towns.
