Menorca Gin Distillery

It was the British that introduced Gin to Menorca’s during their occupancy during the 18th century. Gin was a popular drink in Britain and the soldiers missed it, so juniper berries were brought onto the island and a distillery built.

The drink soon become a popular drink amongst the locals and in the 1900s Sr.Miguel Pons Justo the head of a Menorcan family started their own brand Xoriguer, named after a windmill built in 1784 that was used to grind wheat for the family.

The distillery is located at Mahon’s Port and the factory shop can be visited, where you can still see the original copper stills used in the distillery process. You can also buy numerous gin related souvenirs include t-shirts, perfume, and homeware.
