ATM’s in Menorca

Taking some cash to Menorca is recommended, especially if you are planning on visiting the local markets, paying for a sunbed, tipping a waiter or using a local bus, which currently does not accept card payment.

If you are already on holiday and you require some Euros, you’ll find ATMs in all of Menorca’s major tourist resorts including its towns and cities. Check your providers card logo is visible on the ATM before use. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted throughout Menorca.

Consider there might be a fee associated with your ATM cash withdrawal.  Try to find an ATM associated with a bank such as BBVA or CaixaBank in Menorca, fees may well be lower than independent ATM’s and offer a better exchange rate than those found in tourist hotspots.

Check your bank account whether there are fees for withdrawing cash abroad. You might be best to set up a separate account that offers free cash withdrawals, such Monzo, Revolute, Chase or First Direct.

Whilst using ATM’s you might have the option to pay in Euro’s, do this rather than paying in GBP, you will usually receive a better exchange rate.

Use our resort guides to discover where to locate an ATM or alternatively use these tools offered by banks.

Using debit and credit cards in Menorca

Debit and credit cards are widely accepted throughout Menorca – in shops, restaurants and cash machines.  Look out for the relevant providers logo, Visa and Mastercard being the most common in towns and resorts, followed by American Express and Maestro.

As with ATMs cash withdraws your bank may well charge you a fee for debit and credit purchases abroad.  Check before you travel and if this is the case consider a new account you can use without incurring a fee.
