Family Beaches
Arenal d’en Castell
With warm shallow waters this beach is perfect for families. The beach is horseshow shaped with the backdrop of pine trees, pedalos, motorboats and wind surfers available on the beach. It’s also won the European Blue Flag award for cleanliness. Show on Map
Binibeca
The beach at binibeca is a beautiful white sandy beach with a gently shelving so it’s ideal for families with smaller children. There is also the famous Los Bucaneros beach bar offering great food and drink. Along with good clean toilet facilities there are also sunloungers, parasols and watercrafts/kayaks available to hire on the beach. For those after some shade there is a picnic area towards the rear. There is easy access for wheelchairs as well as pushchairs to the beach bar and beach.
Cala Blanca
Cala Blanca is a small beach situated on the west side of the island, the white sandy beach is lined towards the rear with aromatic pine trees . A rocky inlet with calm clear waters makes for snorkelling conditions. The beach also benefits from beachside bars and restaurants and a children’s water chute.
Cala Macarella
Cala Macarella is a stunning beach situated on the south west coast of Menorca, 10 miles from Ciutadella. Getting to Macarella is exciting to say the least the road in places is rough but persevere the journey if worth it and before you know you end up at the carpark. Macarella beach has fine white sand and calm turquoise water; its rocky cliffs covered with pine trees shelter the cove. Facilities include a restaurant offering a good standard of food as well as toilets and shower facilities. Also to note there is a smaller cove known as Macarelleta cove, within 5 minutes walking distance or by a short swim is also stunning and beautiful, however this beach but often inhabited by those wanting an all body tan.
Cala Morell
The beach at Cala Morell is approximately 80metres long and 50metre wide. There is purpose built concrete platforms for bathers. The cliffs surrounding the beach offer excellent opportunities for snorkelling.
Cala Santa Galdana
Situated on the south coast just 11 km from Ferreries, Cala Galadana is ones of Menorca’s most beautiful beaches. Sheltered by cliffs covered with pines trees the beach is a sweeping horseshoe shape with calm crystal clear waters. Ideal for children with its gentle shelving this beach is perfect families. There are numerous beach bars to choose from and picnic tables positioned amongst the pine trees to the rear of the beach. You can hire sunbeds, parasols and watercraft on this blue flag beach.
Cala Alcaufar
The beach of Alcaufar is situated just 5km from Sant Lluis in the South East corner of Menorca. It’s a small beach with rocky surrounds with a calm gentle shelving slope, idea for children. This is a quiet beach but a hotel next to the beach does offers food and refreshments.
Cales Coves
A small-pebbled beach found on the south coast of Menorca that offers excellent snorkelling and diving. Although Cala Coves is more of a tourist attraction due to the steep rocky cliffs that contain more than 100 burial caves cut into the limestone. The caves date back to Pretalayótic period and some of which can be explored on foot. There are no facilities here so come with plenty of water and a picnic. The Romans used this as the first harbour in Menorca.
Es Grau
Es Grau beach is located just 10minutes north of Mahon; it’s a good-sized beach with surprisingly shallow waters and very calm currents making it perfect for younger children. To the rear of the beach are sand dunes and pines woods that lead towards a lake in the heart of the S’Albufera national park. Pedlos, kayaks and sailing dinghies are available on the beach to hire. There are also numerous waterside restaurants and as well as a beach bar serving pizza’s and sandwiches.
Sa Caleta
Sa Caleta is a relaxing cove with a fine white sandy beach. The beach is well sheltered and has a gentle shelving slope, making it ideal for families with young children.
Punta Prima
The beach at Punta Prima is a good-sized family beach with fine white sands. The beach overlooks the “Isla Del Aire” an island with a lighthouse and small harbour for yachts. Facilities include beach bars offering a good selection of foods and drinks with the ability to hire sun beds, umbrellas and pedaloes. Please note due to the location there can be strong currents but a flag system is in operation for day-to-day guidance. The beach has blue flag status.
Son Xoriguer
Son Xoriguer is a soft sandy beach facing south in the resort of cala ‘n bosch. It has crystal clear calm waters that are ideal for families. Son Xoriguer has a beach bar, sunbeds and parasols to hire. The resort is also host to a water sports centre offering windsurfing, water-skiing, parasailing, sailing and scuba diving. This beach has blue flag status.
Son Bou
Son Bou beach is the largest beach in Menorca measuring 3km. Its crystal clear turquoise water with a gentle sloping shelf is perfect for children. The furthest end of the beach is for naturists. The beach has a good selection of good quality beach bars providing good refreshments either sitting in, or to take away. To the rear of the beach is a large protected wetlands area where many species of wild birds can be seen. The beach is perfect for swimming, snorkelling or trying some of the water sports on offer, including pedlo hire and banana boat rides. There are several lifeguards posted along the beach to ensure safe bathing and a flag system is in operation.
Calan Bosch
Cala n Bosch beach is ideal for children as it is a shallow sandy cove with a gentle slope. There is a Red Cross Lifeguard as well as pedalos, sunbeds, and parasols for hire. There is also beach side bars/restuarants offering pizza’s etc.
Cala’n Porter
A beautiful secluded deep beach that has fine white sand, gently shelving shallow clear waters that are perfect for children, swimming and snorkelling. There is a beach shop, food and drink and toilets . You can also hire umbrellas, sunbeds, and pedalos directly form the beach. There is also a lifeguard at the beach during summer months.
Son Parc
The beach at Son Parc is wide with crystal clear waters that are backed with aromatic pinewoods and sand dunes. T he beach is ideal for families with young children as the water is very calm and shallow. Lifeguards patrol the beach during the summer months and facilities include sun beds, parasols, pedalos and canoes for hire. There are bars/restaurants at either end of the beacj. The beach has a blue flag status.
Romantic Beaches
Cala en Turqueta
Cala en Turqueta is one of the prettiest beaches in Menorca. Situated on the South West coastline it’s approximately 2.5 miles from Sant Joan. With fine white sand and beautiful crystal clear water this truly is a wonderful beach. There are also intriguing sea caves that can be explored and shady pines that surround the beach that make ideal picnic areas. This is a quite beach without facilities but a free cark park is only 5 minutes walk. You can also take a walk to the Atalaya d’artruix, an old lookout tower with views across to Mallorca.
Cala Pregonda
Cala Pregonda is a beautiful remote beach situated some 6 miles from Es Mercadal on the north side of Menorca. The beach itself is a long sandy beach with calm waters that are ideal for snorkelling and diving. Due to the remoteness there are no facilities on the beach, so remember to take plenty of water and a picnic with you.
Nudist Beaches
Macarelleta Cove
Cala Macarelleta is a nudist beach situated just 5 minutes walking distance from Cala Macarella. Similiar to Cala Macarelleta its a stunning beach surrounded by cliffs covered with aromatic smelling pines.
