How to visit the Naveta d’Es Tudons in Menorca

Why Visit the Naveta d’Es Tudons in Menorca

  • The Naveta d’Es Tudons is the oldest and most well-preserved prehistoric building on the island.  Measuring 14 meters (46 feet) in length and 6.4 meters (21 feet) wide and 4 meters (21 feet) in height. Inside there is an upper and lower chamber, the lower used for storing bones whilst the upper used for drying deceased corpes.

How To Get To the Naveta d’Es Tudons

Visiting this iconic prehistoric monument is a highlight of anyone with an interest in history and a car. Ideally suited to those based on west side of the island or those visiting the city of Ciutadella. Located just 4km east between Ciutadella and Ferreries.  Here’s a guide to get you there safely.

By Car

From Ciutadella take the Me-1 road East towards the town of Ferreries for approximately 4km. From Mahon take the Me-1 road West bypassing the towns of Alaior, Es Mercadal and Ferreries.  From whichever direction you visit the site is well signposted and located on the south side of the ME-1 road. There is free parking available next to the Me-1 road and the entrance to the site.

Tips & Good To Know

  • There are no cafés or toilets on-site. Remember to bring water and sun protection, especially in summer
  • We would recommend 30 minutes to explore the settlement.
  • Wear comfortable shoes—the settlement can be uneven
