Fishermens Village

Binibeca Vell is located in muncipiality of Sant Lluis just 5-6 miles from Mahon and lies on the south east coast. Binibeca Vell is the most western area of Binibeca, with Binibeca Nou and Cala Torret to the east.

In 1972 a famous Spanish architect from the Catalan region, Antonio Sintes Mercadal (1921-1981) built a development to resemble a traditional fishing village translated as (Poblat de Pescadors), in an unusual Moorish style.

The fishermens village is a small maze of narrow cobbled streets and two story whitewashed houses incorporating dark natural wood, along with a small harbour. Its well worth a visit and a great way to cool down during the afternoon sun walking through the cool narrow walkways.

A traditional and long running restaurant and bar called Sa Musclera, its located on the north side of the fishermen’s village and offers some amazing dishes and well worth a visit, the inside bar area is cosy and welcoming.

A souvenir shop is also nearby built into the fishermen’s village offering traditional Menorca Varca’s (sandals), jewellery, clothing and good quality souvenirs. There is a market once a week at the fishermens village offering locally crafted produce.
