The coastal village Binibeca (or Binibèquer in Catalan) is located in the muncipiality of Sant Lluis just 5-6 miles from Mahón and lies on the south east coast. The Fisherman’s village is located in Binibeca Vell, the most western area of Binibeca, with Binibeca Nou and Cala Torret to the east.
The Fisherman’s village translated as Poblat de Pescadors was built in 1972 by Spanish architect Antonio Sintes Mercadal. The development was designed to resemble a traditional fishing village in an unusual Moorish style.
Why visit the Fisherman’s Village
The fishermans village is a small maze of narrow cobbled streets and two story white-washed houses along with a small harbour. Its well worth a visit and a great way to cool down during the afternoon sun walking through the cool narrow walkways.
We’d recommend the restuarant Sa Musclera. Located on the north side of the fisherman’s village, its a long-standing restuarant offering some amazing dishes, the inside bar area is cosy and welcoming.
A souvenir shop is also nearby built into the fishermen’s village offering traditional Menorca Varca’s (sandals), jewellery, clothing and good quality souvenirs.
During the summer there is a weekly market at the fisherman’s village.
How to get to the Fisherman’s Village
By car
From the airport follow the Me-14 for 2km, at the first roundabout turn right onto the Me-12 road to Mahon for 2.4km. Approaching Mahón follow directions to Sant Lluís using the ring road. Join the Me-8 road south to Sant Lluís. From Sant Lluís follow the Me-10 road to Binibeca via the village of S’Uestra.

By Bus
From the islands airport catch the Line 10 bus to Mahón’s bus station, the cost is €2.80 and takes around 10 minutes.
Then from the bus station catch Bus Route 93 to Binibeca operated by TMSA buses. The cost is €1.80 for a single and takes around 20 minutes. Please note buses do not accept card payment, cash only.
