Binibeca Beach, Menorca: A Complete Guide to Visiting This Calm and Scenic Coastal Spot

Binibeca beach

Menorca is famous for its beautiful coves, hidden beaches, and crystal-clear Mediterranean water. While many visitors focus on the island’s dramatic calas on the south coast, Binibeca Beach offers a wonderfully relaxed alternative that combines beautiful scenery with easy access and a charming nearby village.

After exploring many of Menorca’s beaches over the years, I often recommend Binibeca to travellers looking for a convenient yet picturesque beach experience. It’s particularly appealing for those staying near the island’s capital or exploring the south-east coastline.

Located behind Binibeca Nou, Binibeca Beach (also called Cala Binibèquer) offers soft sand, calm water, and a peaceful setting surrounded by traditional Mediterranean architecture.

In this guide, I’ll share everything you need to know before visiting Binibeca Beach—from how to get there and what to expect, plus some nearby attractions to make the most of your day.

What Binibeca Beach Is Like

While Binibeca may not be the largest beach in Menorca, it has several qualities that make it especially appealing.

To the left and longer to the right of the beach there’s a rugged volcanic rock peninsula that helps shelter the bay and a great location to explore the rock pools. Towards the rear of the beach is a sweet-smelling pine wood, with numerous picnic tables that’s an ideal place to escape the midday sun

Like many southern beaches on the island, Binibeca is known for its clear turquoise water. The sheltered cove helps create calm swimming conditions, excellent visibility in the water and gentle waves. This makes the beach particularly enjoyable for relaxed swimming.

The beach is well protected by lifeguards and you can hire sun loungers and parasols, as well as electric boats and pedal boats. Towards the rear of the beach there is plenty of space for volleyball, football, frisbee throwing etc. Local artists often display sand scultures.

The beach features soft golden sand and clear water that deepens gradually. Typical conditions include calm sea, sandy seabed, clear water and gentle slope into the sea. Because the cove is sheltered, the water is usually calm even when winds affect other parts of the island.

The clear water around the rocks at the edges of the cove makes Binibeca a pleasant place for snorkelling. You’ll spot lots of Mediterranean fish, sea urchins, star fish and numerous underwater rock formations. Bringing a snorkel mask is definitely worthwhile.

The beach bar, resturant and the iconic fishermen’s hut is located right next to the beach. They offer a good range of food and drinks, as well as ice-creams and lighter snacks.
